In the beautiful wooded hills of Louisiana, just 45 minutes north of New Orleans, owner Mike Cimino has created a peaceful oasis for his clients’ beloved Egyptian Arabians. Trainer Joe Ellis uses natural horsemanship methods to work with foals and put horses under saddle.
Since its inception, Colthill Crescent has been devoted to educating the public about the joy and unique lifestyle surrounding the magnificent Egyptian Arabian horse, as well as the business and investment opportunities they afford.
Owner, Colthill Crescent Arabians
A retired New Orleans police officer, Mike Cimino was introduced to Arabian horses over 20 years ago and fell in love. He began Colthill Crescent Arabians with just a few mares and grew into an Affiliate Farm of Arabians Ltd. in 2004. Today, Mike continues to live out his dream, deriving joy from the day-to-day on the farm, where he can’t imagine waking up without the horses every morning. In retirement, he has transformed his personal interest into a devoted business and sharing that passion brings contentment and joy, creating a family of friends that these amazing horses have brought together.
Joe Ellis joined the Colthill Gang in January of 2006. Straight out of college, Joe was looking for a job and thank our lucky stars, he landed here at Colthill! He started helping out with the daily chores of running a breeding farm. That position quickly grew into being head trainer and farm manager. Joe had no real experience with horses other than a short stint as a saddle bronc rider, one afternoon we were watching the RFD channel and Clinton Anderson was featured and he said “I can do that!” We ordered Anderson’s DVDs and Joe was off and running. The rest is history and he constantly amazes friends and clients with his ability to connect with the horses placed in his care.
Janette Parsons Beard joined the Colthill team in November of 2013. She had been a horse lover all her life, but never really had the opportunity to work with them on a full-time basis. She met Mike Cimino when he was in physical therapy and overheard him talking about his horse farm. Janette asked him about it and Mike invited her out to the farm. She took Mike up on the offer, and after several visits to Colthill, Mike offered her a job. Janette assists Joe and Mike with the daily chorse as well as working with Joe to train the horses. Janette has quickly become an integral part of the Colthill Gang!
